Monthly cactus care
The information provided in this section refers to observations and the climate conditions in Thessaloniki, Greece. Please, consider your local climate conditions when applying the suggestions given here.

October  During this month even less cacti are flowering and even more gradually stop growing. So, watering should be done with caution and care should be taken for the cold sensitive cacti...

September  The very hot days are gradually over and while heading to autumn flowers are fewer. This month is the first official autumn month but the good weather can last for some days, sometimes for the whole month...

August  This is usually a very hot month here in Greece and also a vacation month for most of us. So, a few steps must be taken before departing for summer holidays. Besides that, for the first half of the month...

July  This hot summer month brings relatively less flowers than the previous months. Some cacti that flower continously during the whole summer, of course continue to flower this month too, like echinopsis...

June  Even more flowers

In June temperatures are even higher and cacti are growing and flowering. Echinocereus and echinopsis usually start to flower this month. This month, of course, someone spends more time admiring the flowers and taking photos of the cacti...

May  May is the month with the most flowers and the most visible growing signs on cacti. So, most of the time is spent on observing the plants and admire their beautiful flowers and their new spines...

April  Flowers and flower buds!

Spring is in the air and more and more cacti start flowering. Depending on local weather conditions and cactus species in the collection, more or less cacti are flowering.

March  Has spring arrived?

Spring is starting this month and a look on every cactus collection gives the proof: flowering cacti and cacti which form buds are more...

February  The last month of winter

February is a month with some warmer days (here in Greece at least) and sometimes it looks like the winter is already over...

January  In the heart of winter
